Shiro-Dhara
What is Shirodhara ?
Shirodhara is one of the most popular and deeply relaxing Ayurvedic therapies, involving a continuous stream of warm medicated oil poured gently over the forehead (Ajna Chakra). The name “Shirodhara” is derived from Sanskrit, where ‘Shiro’ means head and ‘Dhara’ means flow. This therapy is known for its profound calming effect on the mind, helping to reduce stress, anxiety, and insomnia. It also balances the Vata and Pitta doshas, promoting mental clarity and emotional well-being.”

Procedure :-
The patient is assessed for their Prakriti (body constitution) and current health condition.
The type of medicated oil or liquid is selected based on the dosha imbalance.
The oil is warmed to a comfortable temperature and kept ready for the therapy.
A steady stream of warm oil is poured from a Shirodhara vessel positioned above the patient’s head.
The oil is allowed to flow in a gentle, rhythmic manner onto the center of the forehead (third eye area) in a continuous stream for 30-60 minutes.
The therapist moves the stream in a systematic pattern across the forehead to enhance relaxation and absorption of the medicated oil.
The oil’s temperature is maintained consistently to ensure comfort and effectiveness throughout the session.
The process induces a deep state of relaxation, promoting a meditative and calm mental state.
Post-Procedure Care :-
The excess oil is gently wiped off, and a head massage may be given to enhance the therapeutic benefits.
After the therapy, the patient is recommended to avoid exposure to cold air, heavy meals, and mental stress for a few hours.
