What is Churna Pinda Sweda ?
Churna Pinda Sweda, also known as Podikizhi in Kerala Ayurveda, is an ancient Ayurvedic therapy that uses medicated herbal powders for therapeutic sweating. It is a type of Swedana (sudation therapy) aimed at relieving pain, stiffness, and inflammation in the body. The therapy involves the application of warm, medicated herbal powders tied in boluses (pouches) that are gently massaged over the body, inducing perspiration and enhancing the therapeutic effects.”

Procedure :-
A thorough assessment of the patient’s Prakriti (body constitution) and Vikriti (imbalances) is done to select the appropriate herbal powders.
The herbal powders are tied into small boluses (pouches) using a clean cloth.
The boluses are heated in medicated oils or dry-roasted, depending on the patient’s condition.
The patient is made to lie down comfortably, and the therapist begins the session with gentle application of warm medicated oil on the affected area.
The heated boluses are then massaged over the body using rhythmic strokes.
The massage is performed in circular and upward strokes, focusing on painful and stiff areas.
The boluses are reheated periodically during the session to maintain the optimal temperature.
Post-Procedure care :-
After the massage, the patient is advised to rest for a few minutes.
A warm towel is used to wipe off any excess oil and powder residues.
The patient is advised to avoid cold exposure and heavy activities immediately after the session.
Herbal teas or warm water may be offered to support the detoxification process.
