What is Arthritis?
Arthritis in simple terms means inflammation of joints. It is an umbrella term denoting a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions wherein joint pathologies are involved. It Is the major cause of disabilities worldwide.
Two major types of Arthritis are:-
Osteoarthritis (OA) It is a degenerative condition in which the structures providing integrity to a joint (articular cartilages) deteriorates. This results in loss of structural and functional integrity of the joint.
Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) It is an inflammatory condition of the joint occurring as a result of autoimmune destruction of the synovium. In this disease the immune system mistakenly attacks the lining of membrane enveloping joint spaces, resulting in loss of integrity of the joint.
How do I know if I have a disease?
The symptoms shown by the body in arthritis are very clear and the patient will not find any difficulty in arriving at the conclusion that it is a joint disorder. However it is important to distinguish the type of arthritis one is suffering from because the prognosis and impact of either one is completely different from the other.
Symptoms of Osteoarthritis :

- Decreased motility (due to pain)
