What is Akshi Dhara?
Akshi Dhara is a soothing, external treatment for the eyes where medicated liquids like herbal decoctions, milk, or oils are poured in a steady stream over the eyes. It helps cleanse and rejuvenate the eyes, reducing stress and alleviating symptoms associated with various eye problems. It is often performed as a standalone treatment or as a part of a Panchakarma procedure.”This therapy aims to cleanse, cool, and rejuvenate the eyes while balancing the Pitta and Vata doshas.

Procedure :-
- The patient is made to lie down comfortably. Eyes are cleaned with lukewarm water or herbal decoction. The patient’s face is massaged gently, focusing on the eye area.
- The medicated liquid is heated to a comfortable, lukewarm temperature.
A steady stream of medicated liquid is poured over the eyes from a specific height (around 6-8 inches). - The flow is maintained for a duration of 15-30 minutes based on the condition and patient’s comfort.
- The procedure is done in a rhythmic manner, ensuring the liquid covers the entire eye area.
Post procedure care :-
- Eyes are gently wiped and allowed to rest in a dimly lit room for 15-20 minutes.
- The patient is advised to avoid direct sunlight and screen exposure for a few hours.
