What is Patra Pinda Sweda?
Patra Pinda Sweda is an Ayurvedic fomentation therapy using boluses made from medicated leaves (Patra) fried in herbal oils.
It’s a type of Pinda Sweda (sudation therapy) where the herbal bolus is used to massage and steam the affected area, providing relief from pain and stiffness.
Indications :-
Joint pain, arthritis, and musculoskeletal disorders.
Muscle stiffness, sprains, and sports injuries.
Sciatica, spondylitis, and back pain.
Neuromuscular conditions caused by Vata and Kapha imbalances.
Procedure :-
- Preparation: Fresh leaves of medicinal plants are chopped and sautéed in herbal oils with herbal ingredients added.
- Bolus Preparation: The mixture is tied into boluses using a cloth (Pinda).
- Application: The heated boluses are used to massage the affected area with rhythmic strokes, while the heat and herbs penetrate deep into the tissues.
Post procedure care :-
- Rest the Treated Area: Avoid strenuous activities for a few hours to allow muscles to recover.
