What is Matra Basti?
Matra Basti is a gentle Ayurvedic enema therapy using a small amount of medicated oil, primarily targeting Vata dosha.
It is a mild form of Basti (enema) used for daily, regular nourishment without intense purgation.
This therapy is often recommended for individuals with chronic Vata imbalances, as it calms and nourishes the body.
Indications for Matra Basti
Chronic Vata disorders (e.g., joint pain, arthritis, dryness).

Digestive issues related to Vata (e.g., constipation, bloating).

Procedure :-
- Preparation of the patient by giving a mild abhyanga beforehand to relax the body
- Selection of the oil as per the condition
- Then administering a small quantity of warm medicated oil through rectal region
- Then the oil is retained for better absorption
Post procedure care :-
- Rest is advised after the therapy to allow oil to nourish and balance vata
- Dietary recommendation as per the condition , mostly vata pacifying
- Lifestyle modifications advised by the practitioner .
